My first review for "Watercolorist's Seduction"
I am delighted by the thoughtful, considered and lovely review Judith posted on The Book Binge blog. You can read it here. Judith calls my short story "warm and readable" and "a story that pulls at the heart strings." Here are her concluding words: "This is the first literary offering by this author I have encountered, but it demonstrates a talent for good writing and the ability to tell a very good love story in a small number of pages. Ms Lewis does all this with a very competent grasp of the historical realities which form the context, and the cast of characters are all very real. I liked the story--it was not difficult to read but it held my interest throughout the work. Thus, I give this work a 3.75 out of 5 rating." I'll take that! Thank you again, Judith for being such a deliberate and thoughtful critic.

Celebrate Good Times!
Just sent the signed contract into Ellora's Cave for my first novel! Yipee!
Roxanne's Pirate is a 75,000 word contemporary erotic romance. I'll post the blurb and synopsis when they've been cleared with my editor.

Watercolorist's Seduction

It's embarrassing how long it's been since I last posted, but I've been busy writing! I really must get into a better blogging habit. But I was inspired to post because I love this cover!
It is the first that is mine, all mine! Watercolorist's Seduction will be out August 10, 2010 with Ellora's Cave. As soon as it's out, I'll post a link on where to buy it.
I'm hoping to post some photos of places that inspired the story. This area of New England is so rich in history, so full of romantic possibilities. I know I haven't even scratched the surface. Or maybe I can link to some of the images that inspired me. Meanwhile I've finished my first novel, tentatively titled "Roxanne's Pirate" and I've submitted it. Unlike WS and "The Proper Wife" , it is a contemporary with suspense elements. My busy brain is planning my next work. I'm thinking of another novel--historical? paranormal? I'll see what the Muse delivers!

Good Reviews! Yeah!!
Like most writers I have a love/hate relationship with reviews of my work--I love reviews that like my work and gnash my teeth when I read reviews that are less than praiseworthy. Fortunately, the new anthologies in which my work appears have both gotten very good reviews. Yeah!
You can read a very good review of Ellora's Cave's Flavors of Ecstasy II at Fallen Angel here.
You can read a great review of Maiden Mother Crone at Whipped Cream--Holly gives it 5 cherries! I am thrilled to be in such fine and praiseworthy company in both books and delighted that both reviewers like my work. I hope regular readers do, too!

Mother Maiden Crone is out!
I am delighted that my story "The Blessings of Desire" is now available in this wonderful anthology from Drollerie Press. You can buy it here. I've been working on my romance novel for the last few months and haven't written any new stories, but I am tempted to dive in and write a sequel for Ardis and the Mage. I see such lovely possibilities for misunderstanding, jealousy, passion and conflict, and it would be fun to explore their world. Hmmm. I'll have to see how the Muse moves me!

New Published Stories
My story For George is in Ravenous Romance's ebook Rekindled Fire: An Anthology of Reunited Lovers, edited by Elle Amery, where I am delighted to join a wonderful group of authors exploring the theme of rediscovered passion, especially since the group includes my good friend and writing comrade, Nini Richou. You can order the book here. I really like the cover for the anthology--it's romantic and moody.
I had fun writing For George. Grace is a novelist who is down on her luck and takes a job in the same diner where once she had a passionate affair with George, the owner's nephew. George is now the owner of the diner, but though Grace has fond memories of him and their steamy times together, George is openly hostile to Grace. I grew up in New Jersey and spent lots of time in diners just like the one in the story, though, alas, not with anyone like George!
I am thrilled to announce the release of my first historical erotic romance, The Proper Wife, in Ellora's Cavemen: Flavors of Ecstasy II.
You can order the book either in print or ebook here.
Here's the blurb:
Elizabeth Warren is not happy with her handsome ship captain husband but doesn’t know what she’s missing until she spies a man and woman having torrid sex. How can she, a proper wife, rouse that kind of passion from her husband?
An unexpected and intense education from a whore allows Elizabeth to use her new skills to seduce her husband. But he is furious, convinced by her wantonness that she is unfaithful. He binds Elizabeth and takes her with an abandon that has her crying with pleasure. Now she must win back his trust.
This story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts which at one time was a famous shipping port. I live nearby and enjoy wandering the streets and exploring the local history. I have ideas for more stories set in Salem and the surrounding area. I just need to write faster so I can get to all the projects I have on my "to-do" list!
One more piece of good news. Violet Blue is including my first published story The Bitch in His Head in her "Best of the Best" anthology due out later this year. Thank you, Violet!
