Good Reviews! Yeah!!

Like most writers I have a love/hate relationship with reviews of my work--I love reviews that like my work and gnash my teeth when I read reviews that are less than praiseworthy. Fortunately, the new anthologies in which my work appears have both gotten very good reviews. Yeah!
You can read a very good review of Ellora's Cave's Flavors of Ecstasy II at Fallen Angel here.
You can read a great review of Maiden Mother Crone at Whipped Cream--Holly gives it 5 cherries! I am thrilled to be in such fine and praiseworthy company in both books and delighted that both reviewers like my work. I hope regular readers do, too!

Mother Maiden Crone is out!

I am delighted that my story "The Blessings of Desire" is now available in this wonderful anthology from Drollerie Press. You can buy it here. I've been working on my romance novel for the last few months and haven't written any new stories, but I am tempted to dive in and write a sequel for Ardis and the Mage. I see such lovely possibilities for misunderstanding, jealousy, passion and conflict, and it would be fun to explore their world. Hmmm. I'll have to see how the Muse moves me!

New Published Stories

My story For George is in Ravenous Romance's ebook Rekindled Fire: An Anthology of Reunited Lovers, edited by Elle Amery, where I am delighted to join a wonderful group of authors exploring the theme of rediscovered passion, especially since the group includes my good friend and writing comrade, Nini Richou. You can order the book here. I really like the cover for the anthology--it's romantic and moody.

I had fun writing For George. Grace is a novelist who is down on her luck and takes a job in the same diner where once she had a passionate affair with George, the owner's nephew. George is now the owner of the diner, but though Grace has fond memories of him and their steamy times together, George is openly hostile to Grace. I grew up in New Jersey and spent lots of time in diners just like the one in the story, though, alas, not with anyone like George!

I am thrilled to announce the release of my first historical erotic romance, The Proper Wife, in Ellora's Cavemen: Flavors of Ecstasy II.

You can order the book either in print or ebook here.

Here's the blurb:

Elizabeth Warren is not happy with her handsome ship captain husband but doesn’t know what she’s missing until she spies a man and woman having torrid sex. How can she, a proper wife, rouse that kind of passion from her husband?

An unexpected and intense education from a whore allows Elizabeth to use her new skills to seduce her husband. But he is furious, convinced by her wantonness that she is unfaithful. He binds Elizabeth and takes her with an abandon that has her crying with pleasure. Now she must win back his trust.

This story takes place in Salem, Massachusetts which at one time was a famous shipping port. I live nearby and enjoy wandering the streets and exploring the local history. I have ideas for more stories set in Salem and the surrounding area. I just need to write faster so I can get to all the projects I have on my "to-do" list!

One more piece of good news. Violet Blue is including my first published story The Bitch in His Head in her "Best of the Best" anthology due out later this year. Thank you, Violet!

Rekindled Romance

Elle Amery let me know today that she accepted my story "For George" for Ravenous Romance's upcoming anthology about rekindled love. She said it was "well-written, entertaining,
passionate, and a perfect fit for the anthology." Thank you, Elle!

I love acceptances. I hate rejections.

Drollerie Press-Beautiful Cover!

I am very excited to see the cover image for the "Maiden, Mother, Crone" anthology due out later this month from Drollerie Press which will include my story "The Blessing of Desire." You can see it here. This story was my first try at fantasy. As usual, the characters of Ardis and the Mage came first, the setting came later. I had started drafting a story about a maiden warrior and a man of magic when I saw the lengthy and wonderfully descriptive request for submissions from Drollerie Press asking for stories about the three faces of the goddess. That's it! I thought. That's what I need to tell my story! I am curious as to how the other authors responded to this prompt. Should be a very interesting book!

"Love Notes Anthology"

My story "Fuck Music" is in Ravenous Romance's Love Notes Anthology.
This was a quickie written in response to the request for stories dealing with music and musicians. I had been thinking of a woman who is infatuated with her neighbor and goes to great lengths to seduce him but I didn't have a setting. I saw the call and wondered what would happen if the neighbor was a musician and the woman had to use music to seduce him. I really enjoyed writing this. I think the anthology may have sunk out of sight on RR's list, but you can find it here.

"The Bitch in His Head"

My first erotica story "The Bitch In His Head" is in Violet Blue's Best Women's Erotica 2009. Lisabet Sarai in the March edition of the Erotica Readers Association reviews the book here and says:
Janne Lewis’ “The Bitch in his Head” wins my prize for the most intriguing characters: a demanding executive trapped by his obsessive-compulsive fancies, and the woman who loves, indulges and liberates him.
Thank you, Lisabet!
As with most of my stories, the characters came to me before the plot. I had been thinking for awhile about what it would be like to have a relationship with a person afflicted by OCD. I read an article about a person who was not sexually active because her OCD incapacitated her but just filed this away for the future. Then I saw an episode of "Monk," (I don't watch much television, usually I stumble on programs my husband or kids are watching) and the idea gained some ground. What if the person with OCD had a terrific sex drive? How would he manage? How would his lover respond to his demands? Wouldn't she get tired of them after awhile? The story developed from there. The idea for the "Bitch" came to me as I was writing. It was one of those Eureka! moments. Once I began to write, the story flowed. I didn't want to do anything else for the three days I worked on it until it was finished (at 4 am). And when I was done, I hated to leave the characters.
